Summer is slipping away

We're less than 2 weeks away from the official start of Fall, so I've been luxuriating in the memories of these past few delicious months. It's good practice to reflect and harvest past experiences in order to continue expanding in both your personal and professional life.

But before getting to that left brain 'masculine' approach, I want to take a moment to lean into the right brain 'feminine' and honor all that summer has offered the sensual side of me. The summer season of The Empowered Women's Circle was an opportunity to savour our life experiences through the five senses—sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.

We use this sensory information to keep us safe and healthy AND it is the way we experience our one precious life and take in the beauty that surrounds us all the time.

The 3 minute video below includes examples of the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and touches that made my summer one that I will never forget.

What will YOU take with you into the fall?

A few experiences that will stay with me as temperatures drop:

  • The lake views while I sipped my morning coffee or bantering with Jeremy about our growing children and the future of our planet (conversations are rarely small or light but always stimulating and connecting)

  • Singing loudly during car karaoke with my children or the way they all laugh when I get the lyrics wrong

  • The juiciness of Ontario peaches on a hot day or spitting cherry seeds as far as possible - lol!

EWC co-leader Barbara Frensel hosted a session that centered on the importance of beauty. Art, architecture, travel, nature, colours, and moments are all beauty.

In a world where beauty is seen as impractical, superficial, frivolous or girly, she reminded us that the things we love have the power to enliven, nourish, and replenish us.

Savouring the beautiful moments of our lives through the five senses is not unnecessary or frivolous! It's vital to being present and mindful - it re-fuels our tank, renews our energy and inspires our creativity.

We live in a world that needs fresh and innovative solutions that are informed by YOUR creativity.

I invite you to think about the preciousness of your summer—what did you touch, taste, smell, hear, or see that brought you joy or clarified your vision for your life?

Write them down or name them out loud, and be sure to bask in them and take them with you everywhere you go.
